FERPA and student privacy
Back to School Forms processes student personally identifiable information consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The district remains the owner of its data; we act as a service provider under your direction and your data-privacy agreement.
Free & reduced data, under NSLA
Free and reduced price meal eligibility data carries stricter confidentiality requirements than ordinary education records under the National School Lunch Act. Our platform keeps that data confined to staff directly connected to program administration, exactly as the law requires.
Encryption, hosting, and backups
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest and runs in a secure, monitored, managed cloud environment with per-district and platform-wide backups. Families connect through a standard browser — nothing to install and no device footprint for your team to manage.
Access and identity
District staff sign in with Google, keeping staff access inside identity controls your district already administers. Parents use a username and password, and only someone holding one of your registration codes can create a parent account — switch a code off and the door closes. Staff permissions are scoped to roles, and each staff member gets their own account, because the audit log is only useful when actions belong to individuals.
Data ownership and portability
Your district owns its data at all times. We process it on your behalf under your data-privacy agreement, you can export it whenever you want, and we return or delete it on request when an agreement ends.
